Journey Therapy

What is Journey Therapy?

Journey therapy is a process which gently guides you on a journey through your body to find out what emotions and memories have become stuck and help you to safely release old painful patterns of behaviour.

Research suggests that emotions, which are a key element in self-care, can become trapped and stuck in the cells of the body. This “stuckness” may adversely affect our health and well-being as well as relationships with family, friends and work colleagues.

Anger, grief, fear, depression, jealousy, hurt and anxiety are not just negative emotions; they are as vital to our survival as are positive emotions of joy, peace and love. Denying negative emotions only feeds and empowers them, whilst awareness and acceptance has the potential to heal and improve the quality of our lives.

Accessing our own inner healing wisdom offers the unique opportunity for self-realisation and healing the core cause behind our issues. This is a powerful process which can bring new awareness into old issues and insights into how to positively deal with them.

How does Journey therapy work?

The Journey was created by Brandon Bays in 1992 after discovering that she had a large tumour. Brandon used her skills in nutrition, kinesiology, meditation, herbology and neuro-linguistic programming NLP to create a holistic approach to her recovery and refused any medical interventions healing herself in just 6.5 weeks! Please be clear I am not telling you to go ahead and refuse any medical assistance just merely reporting the facts and personally feel a combined approach is a good option.

Through her continued work, Brandon refined her system, realising that this approach could help many others with their own psychological and physical health. Focusing on the premise that the mind and the body are interconnected, journey work heals one side so it can heal the other by releasing and resolving old issues. Many illnesses and ailments are derived from dis-ease within the body, so being able to balance this out, results in good mental and physical health.

From a scientific standpoint, research has shown that suppression of emotions can result in DNA mutation and actually change our cells especially when a person is depressed. Therefore working with our internal environment, welcomes healing by removing the blockages.

What happens in a Journey therapy session?

Before the session, Heather, our Journey Therapist will arrange a call to discuss your reasons for taking the Journey therapy and to explain the process and ensure that you are comfortable.

On arrival at the session, you will settle into a chair or on the couch. Heather will then take you on an imaginary Journey, eliciting experiences or memories to help you reach what is trapped. As a trained professional she will safely lead you to uncover old memories, find resolution and create new positive memories. You are in control of the session at all times

Conclusion

You may not have heard much about Journey therapy until now but I can assure that it is extremely effective. You do not need to know what it is you need to uncover as Heather is adept at gently drawing that out of you, resolving issues from the past that have been holding your future hostage, leaving behind the old baggage that is no longer serving you, so can take control of your life.

In my session I found two blockages that I had thought I had dealt with but had really just put them in a box and shut the lid. However, these mental boxes are like a jack-in-the-box and will try to pop open when you least expect or want it. Once faced and dealt with in a kind and positive manner these memories become forever altered. I walked away feeling like I left behind a lead weight that I was unaware I had been carrying around. I felt so positive and ready to take on the world.
